RASA (Regional Association of Supervisors and Administrators) continues to expand and now represents districts in Westchester, Rockland, Putnam, Orange, and Dutchess counties. We continue to seek to educate administrators across our region on the benefits of RASA and ESSAA membership. Our vision will continue to focus on serving our members’ professional needs through dedicated legal services, advocacy, professional development and networking.  Our focus will remain on strengthening our members' talents and empowering them to lead effectively.

September 30, 2020
Dear Colleagues,
Welcome to the 2020-21 school year! While this year’s opening has certainly been unconventional, it is still significant that we are back together. As I told our students on their first day back, empty schools are merely buildings; it is only with students, teachers, and staff do they become communities.
I hope you all had ample opportunities to (occasionally) rest, recharge, and rejuvenate over the summer. We all faced incredible logistical and planning challenges this summer; thank you for your dedication and commitment to providing the safest environment in which teachers and students can learn optimally. We know this is a work in progress; however, as school and district leaders, you have provided the vision and plans that have allowed our schools to move forward.
Allow me to share professional development and networking opportunities the RASA executive board has planned for this year:
  • October 16 – Unit Presidents meeting – 9:30 AM via Zoom
  • October 21 – New administrator workshop (Carol Conklin-Spillane and Bob Saperstein) – 4:00 PM via Zoom
  • November 19 – SEL presentation – “Taking care of yourself so you can take care of everyone else” – Dr. Gail Duffy, Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Public Schools of the Tarrytowns – 4 PM via Zoom
  • December - Holiday Social, Westchester (date, location, and time TBA)
  • January – Holiday Social, Rockland (date, location, time TBA)
  • March 18 – Retirement Planning, Andrew Buttelman, 4:00 PM, location TBA
  • May 14 – Unit Presidents Meeting – 9:30 AM, location TBA
  • Negotiations boot camp Mike Starvaggi and Bob Saperstein – Date TBD
On behalf of our students, parents, teachers, and staff, thank you for your incredible efforts preparing for a most challenging year. Your executive board is here to support all of you; please do not hesitate to reach out with questions or concerns.
On behalf of your executive board, I wish you a wonderful year and look forward to seeing you soon.
