Rockland County Association for School Administrators (RCASA)

The newly formed Rockland County Association for School Administrators is new to the regional process, with a little over a year as a region. The membership consists of 110 members. Districts serviced include: Rockland BOCES, Nanuet, South Orange town, Pearl River, Nyack, East Ramapo, East Ramapo Non instructional Administrators. We maintain great ongoing communication with both of our attorneys, Michael Starvaggi and Bob Saperstein. Workshops for the region have included topics on Your Rights as a Tenured Professional, APPR, What it Means for You and The Purpose of the Political Action Committee.

We are proud of the administrators that continue to strive forward in this changing economic times providing great instruction for our students. Having said that, we are excited about the ESSAA Administrator of the Year Award, which goes to Julie Larsen. Mrs. Larsen is the principal of the Jesse Kaplan School of Rockland BOCES. Julie over sees the school serving individual with multiple disabilities and autism. Mrs. Larsen’s expertise has been recognized in the field of visual engineering, ensuring that all students have an individual means of communication.

Upcoming events include working with the presidents of the unions to negotiate an acceptable evaluation tool as mandated through the new APPR Legislation and better informing members of those who continue to fight for the rights of administrations through PAC. A couple of social events will be planned to better unite the members, share information and network.
